Manager, Maintenance & Repair (Memphis)
TITLE: Manager, Maintenance & Repair, Mid-South Consolidated Chassis Pool, LLC (MCCP)
LOCATION: Memphis, Tennessee
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage the day to day M&R operation of the Mid-South Consolidated Chassis Pool. Manage all MCCP M&R staff and promote a positive work environment. Coach and mentor three M&R Inspectors to ensure uniform compliance with corporate Maintenance and Repair policies and procedures. Manage maintenance operations so as to ensure equipment availability and high level of customer service, while remaining focused on cost containment. Promote a customer focused approach that emphasizes positive relationships with customers, terminal operators, vendors and other industry partners. Maintain vigilance, and promote safe work practices by pool staff and vendors. Demonstrate competence in pool finance by managing the daily M&R budget and goals of the operation.
This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Pool Manager, Mid-South Consolidated Chassis Pool (MCCP).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTION:
Oversee equipment repairs between all city locations (Memphis, Nashville, Hunts ville), minimizing daily balance of "out of service" equipment at all locations. Ensure that all vendors follow repair criteria and Federal Roadability regulations as well as all FMCSA standards. Collect data to facilitate Out of Services reports, demand requirements and maximum turn times. Analyze M&R cost and frequencies of repairs to control expenses. Work with the Logistics group to provide safe equipment and to manage the M&R and other operating costs to the lowest possible level.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Meet with customers and vendors to promote positive working relationships and adherence to pool standards.
DESIRED PREREQUISITES:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Shipping Line experience preferred
Intermodal experience and knowledge of industry (5-7 yrs required)
Maintenance background
Independent thinker, must be self motivated and comfortable a high visibility role
Excellent oral and written communicative skills
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint required
IICL certification strongly preferred
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Meet eligibility requirements for security credentials such as ERailSafe and TWIC
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
Proven ability to negotiate contracts, mediate disputes and diplomatically resolve conflict
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel for day trips and overnight trips (Travel required approx. 15%)
Must comply with OSHA regulations and specific rail location safety policies and procedures
